Panel - Trends in the game industry and the role of research

The panel discussion is envisioned as a meeting point between the developers and the researchers. What are the new trends in the industry, especially related to networked games? What are the comments on new technologies and research results? How can researchers help the developers to achieve better market success? Which are the possible cooperation possibilities? Possible answers to these and many other questions will be discussed during the panel. Panel will be open to questions from the audience.

Franck Diard

Franck Diard is Chief Software Architect at NVIDIA. In 16 years at NVIDIA, he has started, designed, built and helped deliver significant PC technologies like SLI, Optimus hybrid graphics and GRID cloud graphics platforms. In 2007, he was named the first software Distinguished Engineer at NVIDIA in recognition of his outstanding contributions and engineering creativity, with 70 US patents granted so far. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France.

Maxim Baryshnikov

Maksim Baryshnikov is a solutions Architect at Wargaming.net. He has graduated from Belaruski Nacyjanal'ny Tehnieny Universitet in 2007. Key expertise areas he has built in his 12 years of software engineering and architecture experience are software systemˇ¦s performance, scalability and reliability. Heˇ¦s been working on improving informational services infrastructure of legendary World of Tanks game as well as making robust and flexible SOA foundation for future titles. Currently technically leads development of new generation of Clan Wars ˇX turn-based land domination strategy game involving World of Tanks gameplay.ˇ¨


Mario Mihokovic

Mario Mihokovic

Mario Mihokovic is a 35 year old CEO and co-founder of Little Green Men Games development studio from Zagreb, Croatia. LGM team has been founded in 2007 and only four men developed the first game which was published in 2010. LGM team grew quickly and reached 15 members. The next very successful game - Starpoint Gemini 2 was released in 2014. LGM now works on two new projects.

Kresimir Spes

Kresimir Spes has been developing games since the age of 13, which has slowly transformed from a hobby to a fruitful career. He got his master's degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Croatia, majoring in computer science, having both his bachelor's degree and master's degree thesis' done in the field of video technology use in games. He formed Cateia Games studio along with two colleagues in the year 2000, which has since developed over 20 different games and became one of the leading casual developers in the region. At Cateia Games, he works as a lead programmer, coordinating a team of highly skilled developers and external partners.


Davor Ivanus
Programmer at Ironward

Davor Ivanus

Davor Ivanus was born in 1984. in Zagreb where he finished his elementary and high school. As a self thought programmer he has started working in Ironward in 2012. Ironward is a newly formed studio from Croatia, located in its capital city, Zagreb with 7 team members currently working on the first project, The Red Solstice which was released on Steam in July 2015. The Red Solstice is a tactical, squad-based action game which got overwhelmingly positive reviews after the launch.
